Brrrrrrr - It's cold out there!
I went to two Remembrance day ceremonies with Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan and at St Nicks, Tooting
I was part of the GLA and Design council’s Design for sustainability conference, the Isle of Wight to speak on Food insecurity. I spoke about better farming practices and how Wandsworth has committed to a One-world Living programme for sustainability – we are focussing on textiles
I've also been to a RCA Open for innovation event - where science meets arts
Then I held a meeting for 100 members of our Voluntary Sector Organisations to get their input into the development of a holistic Voluntary Sector department. The very next day Frank Bruno paid us a visit with over 200 of our residents piling into the town hall for a talk. We are really making this the People’s Town Hall!
We opened the World heart beat studios in Nine Elms - the first project finished with the Levelling up money for the whole of London. What bright stars are coming out of there! One of the students won a Wandsworth civic award for giving over 2000 hours of free piano lessons to local young people over the past year.
I was appointed governor for South Thames colleges and spoke to students about the real skills needed for the workplace - punctuality is key!
I've been working with the council high streets team to see how we can stop the huge increase of empty shops appearing in our Town centres and High streets
The Commission exploring long term effects of pandemics and poverty launched last week and you can read more and find out how you can be involved here.
I've been asking for cameras to be deployed in some of the main flytipping spots around Tooting, so you should see some difference soon
Warm spaces have opened up across the borough. If you know one thats not on the map please encourage them to sign up here
And finally, I won an award alongside Putney CLP and Fleur Anderson MP from SME for Labour - What an honour!
