I'm an icon!

It's Black History Month so of course my inbox has been full of invitations to speak at events, open events, eat and drink and be seen at events. More than usual.

I've already hosted a jellof competition, been to an Windrush exhibition and more to come as we are only 1/2 way through.

This year I had the delight of being invited to speak at two primary schools in my very own Battersea by the school children. They wanted to learn about my origin story, my charity Be Enriched, my journey into politics and what makes me do what I do.

I was taken back by how much the internet has increased years 5 and 8's capacity to find information as at one point they were telling me about my own past! Clever kids.

Then...

they invited me for dinner and called me Iconic

I'm done. Life goal achieved!

They asked some real world questions, in the Q and A section, which gave me an insight into what young kids today are concerned about - Helping others and the benefits to society, life in alternate worlds, how to you challenge crime and their wariness of the police. A rare glimpse into their wishes and fears.

I learned, they learned and this was the best speaking invitation i've had all year.

Thank you St. Marys and Sacred Heart schools!
